Shana Gibbs was born and raised in Upstate New York. An educator, advocate, activist, and a Deaf Interpreter specializing in Text-to-ASL Translations, Higher Education and Theatre. She also completed Project CLIMB’s Legal Interpreting training program at University of Northern Colorado. She completed her BA Degree in English at Gallaudet University, and her master degrees in Deaf Education and Educational Leadership, Administration & Policy both from Boston University. Previously taught in Interpreting Training Programs at Northeastern University, University of Southern Maine, University of North Florida, and Framingham State University. Currently, she serves on the Executive Leadership Team as the Director of Diversity and Special Programs at the American School for the Deaf. During her free time, she likes traveling, reading, and spending time outdoors and on her family’s homestead in Upstate NY.
